How to compare pet insurances with Lassie

No, we do not reimburse costs for previous conditions. The insurance also does not cover pre-existing illness/injury. You should pay extra attention to this when you move your insurance between companies!

Pre-existing illness/injury: An illness or injury that exists when the insurance begins to apply, regardless of when the damage or disease was discovered or first occurred.

Previous conditions: A previous conditions is something your animal has been examined, treated, medicated, or shown symptoms for before the insurance was signed - generally within 24 months before the start date of the insurance.

NOTE: Some chronic (long-term) complaints may lie dormant for more than 24 months. If the animal has ever suffered from a complaint that may be chronic before the start of the insurance, similar or related complaints can count as a pre-existing disease/injury and thus be excluded, even if the animal has been symptom-free for 24 months prior to the start date of the insurance.

If your animal is again affected by a complaint that it was examined for, treated for, or showed symptoms of longer than 24 months before the start date of the insurance, we or the veterinarian need to determine if it is a new or pre-existing condition.

If your dog or cat is perfectly healthy and is not on any medical or other treatment, it is usually no problem to change pet insurance. It is good to know, however, that Lassie does not cover costs from previous problems, for example something your dog or cat has been treated, medicated or examined for within the last 24 months.

If the pet insurance is transferred directly to Lassie from another Swedish pet insurance, the dog or cat insurance applies without a waiting period, provided that the scope is the same.

3. We choose a start date that corresponds to your commitment period.

4. Say yes to help with the move and sign a digital power of attorney.

We will then send an email about cancellation approximately one month before the binding period of your pet insurance expires, when the insurance is renewed. In some cases, you may therefore have time to get a new policy from your previous pet insurance, but you can ignore that.

On the same day that your previous pet insurance ends, your dog or cat insurance with Lassie begins. There will therefore be no gap between your insurances.

If you switch directly from another Swedish pet insurance to us, your pet insurance with Lassie applies immediately without a waiting period, provided that the scope is the same as the old pet insurance. If, however, you switch to a higher coverage with us, there will be a waiting period of 14 days, but only on the increase. There is no waiting period for accidents.

When changing ownership, the old owner needs to cancel their pet insurance and the new owner needs to purchase a new pet insurance when it has been taken over the dog or cat. To make it as easy as possible, you can agree together on a date when the old pet insurance ends and when the new owner get a new dog or cat insurance. As a new owner, you do not need to show the old insurance number when you get your new pet insurance.

Good to know here is that the new owner does not get a waiting period as long as he buys a pet insurance that starts on the same day as the previous pet insurance ends. If the new owner chooses a different scope of the insurance, there will only be a waiting period for the increase.
