Hidden defects are diseases or defects that have started to develop before a veterinary examination but are not detected.

Lassie's dog and cat insurance covers hidden defects if the puppy or kitten is born in Sweden and has been insured continuously since before 120 days of age and there was a Swedish veterinary certificate that was a maximum of 10 days old when the insurance started.

The insurance is valid in the Nordic countries. It also applies to temporary stays of a maximum of one year throughout the world, where the animal may be brought back and forth without being quarantined according to the Swedish Board of Agriculture's regulations. For longer stays abroad (more than three months), Lassie must be informed in advance and agree to this. See further information in our terms and conditions.

The insurance price usually increases with the pet's age. This is because the risk of the dog or cat needing veterinary care increases. The price can also sometimes be raised due to the cost of veterinary care increases or other cost increases. We avoid price increases as far as we can because we want to offer the best value for your money but when we need to make a price increase, we promise to announce it in advance.

It can often feel especially important to insure an older pet, precisely because they often need more care. We have no upper age limit for our veterinary care insurance, so Lassie may be a suitable choice when you want to insure a senior dog or cat!

Lassie Cat Insurance has a waiting period of 14 days. Insurance for cats does not cover illnesses that appear within 14 days of the start date of the cat insurance.

If your cat suffers an accident, the cat insurance will apply immediately, with no waiting period.

If the cat insurance starts before your kitten is 120 days old, the insurance applies immediately, with no waiting period. In this case, a veterinary certificate without remarks and no more than seven days old is required.

If you switch from another Swedish cat insurance policy directly, without any gaps, our insurance applies immediately. If your previous cat insurance had a lower cover, you have a waiting period for the increase. For caesarean sections, there is always a waiting period of 60 days.

When you complete tasks in the app, such as courses and challenges, you can earn points. The points you collect can then be redeemed for a discount on your pet insurance. The size of your discount depends on how many points you have collected. You can get a maximum discount of 500 SEK per year for a dog, and 250 SEK for a cat.

If you pay your pet insurance monthly, the discount will be deducted from your next monthly invoice (and subsequent invoices if the discount exceeds the monthly amount). If you pay annually, you will instead receive a refund a few days after the discount is activated.

An activated discount is, for insurance reasons, only valid during the current insurance year. Your collected but unused points carry over when a new insurance period begins, but each individual point can only be redeemed once.

Yes, we do and we even have the best opening hours for direct regulation in Sweden. Your veterinarian has the possibility to directly report an injury to us weekdays from 08-17 (except holidays).

When the claim is settled directly, you won't be out of pocket and you'll only have to pay for the fixed and variable excesses. Lassie settles the rest directly with the vet - great, eh?

Not all vets offer direct settlement. Your vet may charge a fee for this.
