Teach your dog to spin

Teaching your dog fun tricks is a great way to bond and keep them mentally stimulated. In this video, Lassie's dog trainer Lina Lundin shows you how to teach your dog to spin. Have fun practising!

Step 1

Start by luring your dog around with a treat in your hand. Make the movement nice and big so they have room to spin around their own shoulder. If you use a clicker, click when your dog is halfway around.

Step 2

Now, gradually make the lure movement smaller. See if your dog can spin without you guiding the whole way. Continue to click when they're about halfway.

Step 3

It's time to add your cue. The order of your signals is important here. Say the cue "spin" first, then use your arm movement. The new verbal cue should always come before the physical one.

Step 4

Make your arm movement smaller and smaller with each repetition. Your dog should eventually spin just by hearing the "spin" cue, without needing any arm guidance.
