Teach your dog to sit

Dog trainer Lina shows you how to teach your dog to sit. Sitting can be useful in many situations, and in these videos, Lina demonstrates how to have your dog sit until they’re given the 'all clear' to change position. This is great for teaching your dog to stay steady and remain sitting from the start.

Dogs learn best through our body language, so we start by teaching a hand signal for 'sit'. This is then faded out and replaced by the verbal cue you prefer. Remember: when you introduce the verbal cue, say it *before* you move your hand, giving your dog a chance to learn the new command. Gradually reduce your hand movement until your dog sits reliably on your verbal cue alone.
